MACON, Ga. - The LaGrange College cross country teams ran in the Mercer Run-Fit Invitational on Saturday. The men were the only NCAA Division III team in the 15-team field, while the women were one of only two Division III teams in 11-team field.
Josh Valls led the men with a time of 30:42.15 over the 8K course. Joseph Strickland followed Valls with a time of 33:54.13. The rest of the men's times were: Todd Dresdow (38:01.88), Robert Harste (38:51.52), Chris Read (43:11.15), Ben MacMinn (45:03.63) and Blake Shuler (46:39.71). As a team, the men improved by four minutes over the team average in last year's meet.
For the third straight meet, Sara Cleaveland led the women. Cleaveland had a time of 23:28.25 over the 5K course. Amber Lucas was behind Cleaveland with a time of 24:01.19. The rest of the women's times were: Megan Tipsword (27:48.12), Kelsey Harris (28:33.45), Christa Von Borstel (29:54.04) and Cara Thornton (30:29.47). As a team, the women improved by nine minutes over the team average in last year's meet.
The teams will run in the Great South Athletic Conference Pre-Conference Meet on Saturday in Lookout Mountain, Ga.
