LaGrange opened its 2015 volleyball season with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Wesleyan in the Richter Gym on Tuesday. The Panthers (1-0) needed only an hour to dispatch the Wolves (0-1) 25-10, 25-5, 25-8.
"Initially, we started very strong with a lot of energy," Coach Jamie Thomas-McGreal said. "The girls that were out there I feel confident they can do very well for us this year. It was good to get every one in and see what they can do."
"We served them off the court which is what I wanted to see," said Thomas-McGreal. Our strength is definitely serving. The passing struggled a bit but our hitting was very effective so those were great things to see."
The Panthers had a .405 attack percentage for the match. Maggie Ivester had a team best six kills on just eight attempts. The Panthers had 11 of 14 players get at least one kill in the match.
The Panthers travel to Atlanta for the Oglethorpe University Stormy Petrel Challenge this weekend. The Panthers will face Brewton Parker and Benedictine (Ill.) on Friday, then face Wesleyan and host Oglethorpe on Saturday.
