Volleyball: Panthers reach .500 with 3-0 sweep of Huntingdon

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - LaGrange evened its season record with a 3-0 sweep of Huntingdon in a USA South match Wednesday. The Panthers upped their record to 16-16 and 6-8 in conference play.

The Panthers won the match 25-23. 25-9, 26-24. It was the second win over the Hawks (7-24, 0-14 USA South) this season.

Danyelle Carr led the Panthers with a match-high 13 kills and a .480 attack percentage. Maggie Ivestor added 10 kills. 

The Panthers led the first set 24-17, before the Hawks ran off six straight points. The set ended on a service error by the Hawks for the 25-23 final.

The second set was dominated by the Panthers. Leading 7-6, the Panthers ran off 10 straight points to take control and went on to take the set 25-9.

The third set was a see-saw affair with numerous lead changes. Huntingdon led 24-23 and needed one mor point to extend the match. But a kill by Carr tied the set at 24.

Emily Arnold followed with a kill to put the Panthers up 25-24. Ivestor and Katie Chancellor ended the match by blocking a Hawk kill attempt for the 26-24 final.

The Panthers return to Montgomery on Saturday to face Maryville and Covenant in USA South matches.
