Volleyball: Panthers rally to defeat Toccoa Falls

TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. - LaGrange rallied to defeat Toccoa Falls in five sets, 3-2, on Wednesday. The Panthers improved to 2-6 with their second win in the last three matches. The host Eagles slipped to 6-4.

The Panthers dropped the first set 25-14 before tying the match with a 25-21 second set win. The Eagles won a hard-fought third set 31-29 to go up 2-1. The Panthers again tied the match by taking the fourth set 25-18. They edged the Eagles 15-12 in the deciding fifth set to win the match.

This was the third straight five-set match between the two teams. The Panthers have won all three going back to last season.

Nicole Wilson had 13 kills and Hayley LaFontaine 11 for the Panthers. Both players had a .375 attack percentage. Erin McKinstry had six kills and 35 assists. Ella Weymiller had a team-leading 21 digs. Leslie Rhoades had four service aces and total blocks.

The Panthers play a tri-match at Piedmont on Saturday in Demorest, Ga. The Panthers play Piedmont at 1, followed by a match against Covenant at 3 p.m.
