Volleyball: Panthers end Huntingdon Jubilee with two losses

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The LaGrange volleyball team finished up play in the Huntingdon College Jubilee with losses to Piedmont and Birmingham-Southern by 3-0 scores on Saturday. The Panthers went 0-4 in the tournament.

The Panthers fell to fellow USA South member Piedmont (3-1) by scores of 25-13, 25-11 and 25-20 in a match that will not count in the conference standings. Birmingham-Southern completed a sweep of its four matches in tournament by beating the Panthers 25-7, 25-14 and 25-22.

Hayley LaFontaine, Leslie Rhoades and Nicole Wilson all had five kills in the Piedmont match. Erin McKinstrey had a double-double of 20 assists and 13 digs, while Destinee Briskey tied her for team honors in digs. Ella Weymiller added 10 digs.

Against Birmingham-Southern, LaFontaine had her tournament high with 10 kills. McKinstry also had her tournament-high with 25 assists, while Weymiller led the team with 12 digs.

For the tournament, Nicole Wilson led the Panthers with 22 kills. McKinstry had 85 assists, averaging 7.08 per set. Weymiller had 47 digs in the four matches, averaging 3.92 per set.

The Panthers play at Agnes Scott on Wednesday, Sept. 5. They host Huntingdon and Covenant in a tri-match Saturday, Sept. 8.
