Volleyball: Moses named GSAC Coach of Year; eight Panthers earn conference awards

DECATUR, Ga.- The Great South Athletic Conference office announced the 2011 women's soccer conference awards. The awards will be given at the GSAC Championship tournament hosted by Piedmont  College.

LaGrange head coach Julie Moses was named the GSAC Coach of the Year after leading the Panthers to a turnaround year. Moses guided the Panthers to a 16-14 overall record and was third in the GSAC standings with a 5-3 record. Last year, the Panthers were 7-23. The Panthers have clinched their first winning season since 2005.

Junior middle hitter Katie Covington was selected to the GSAC All-Conference team for the second year in a row. Covington leads the Panthers in attack percentage (.270), kills (377), total blocks (67) and service aces (35). She is third in the GSAC in both attack percentage and kills.

Senior Crystal Colvin and junior Erin McKinstry joined Covington on the all-conference team. Colvin, a libero, leads the team and is third in the GSAC in digs with 490. McKinstry, a setter, leads the team and is second in the GSAC with 886 assists.

Ashley Corona and Mary Ann Washichek were named to the GSAC All-Freshman team. Corona is second on the team with 187 kills. Washichek is second on the team in digs with 304 and third in kills with 158.

Colvin was joined on the GSAC All-Academic team by Kaydee Daniel, Hayley LaFontaine and Leslie Rhoades.
