Volleyball: Panthers split GSAC matches with Spelman and Maryville

MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Host Maryville swept LaGrange 3-0, but the Panthers bounced back with a 3-1 win against Spelman in GSAC matches Friday. The Panthers finished 5-3 in their GSAC schedule and are 15-11 overall.

The conference-leading Scots (21-6, 6-0) won 25-12, 25-6 and 25-14 against the Panthers. Katie Covington and Nicole Wilson each had six kills for the Panthers. Erin McKinstry had 14 assists, while Crystal Colvin had 13 digs.

The Panthers downed Spelman 25-13, 25-11, 20-25 and 27-25. Covington had a match-high 19 kills, while Ashley Corona added 15. McKinstry had 46 assists and Colvin 25 digs. Leslie Rhoades had six kills and 11 digs.

The Panthers play in the Millsaps Tournament on Oct. 28-29.
