Volleyball: Panthers go 3-1 at Toccoa Falls Tournament

TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. - LaGrange went 3-1 at the Toccoa Falls Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Panthers improved to 5-4 on the season.

The Panthers defeated Crown 3-0, Trinity (Fla.) 3-2 and Florida Christian 3-1. The Panthers' only loss in the tournament was to Clearwater Christian by a score of 3-0.

Junior Katie Covington had 55 kills and two double-doubles in the tournament. Junior Erin McKinstry had 125 assists, while senior Crystal Colvin had 62 digs.

Covington had 11 kills and freshman Courtney Bishop added seven kills in the win over Crown. McKinstry had 29 assists and Colvin 13 digs. The Panthers took the match by scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-13.

Clearwater Christian swept the Panthers by scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-21. Covington had a double-double of 11 kills and 13 digs. Freshman Mary Ann Washichek had six kills and 12 digs.

The Panthers rallied to edge Trinity by scores of 27-25, 22-25, 26-28, 25-20 and 15-10. Covington tied her season high with 20 kills and 17 assists. Bishop added 11 kills, while Washichek came within a kill of a double-double with nine kills and 16 digs.

The Panthers finished the tournament by downing Florida Christian 19-25, 25-19, 25-15 and 25-14. Covington led the team with 13 kills, while Washichek and Ashley Corona each had nine kills.
