Panthers go 1-3 at Emory & Henry Tournament

Junior Crystal Colvin was selected to the all-tournament team. The libero had 65 digs in the four matches. The Panthers downed Randolph by scores of 25-21, 25-17, 26-28, 25-19. Sophomore Hannah Brooks led the Panthers with nine kills, while Erin Hazelrig added eight. Sarah Newland had a team-high 18 digs with six kills. Kayla Black had 27 assists to lead the team.

The Panthers lost 3-0 by scores of 25-21, 25-17, 25-23 to Eastern Mennonite to open the tournament. Newland led the team with eight kills. Brooks and Connie Russell had six kills each. Colvin had 19 digs and Black had 20 assists.

Roanoke blanked the Panthers 3-0 in the second match by set scores of 25-18, 25-13, 25-8. Brooks had six kills, while Anna Byars added five. Colvin had 21 digs and Kristen Barton had a team-high 20 assists.

Tournament host Emory & Henry downed the Panthers 3-0 by scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-15. Newland led the team with six kills. Black had 15 assists and Colvin had 12 digs.

The Panthers host Brenau in their first home match Monday. The match begins at 7 p.m.
