Panthers clinch final spot in GSAC Championship Tournament

LaGrange also celebrated Senior Day. Seniors Kayla Black, Shanice Cunningham, Sarah Newland and Connie Russell were recognized in a ceremony before the Wesleyan match.

The Panthers broke a 10-match losing streak by beating Agnes Scott (3-16, 0-6 GSAC) in the first match. The Panthers took the match by scores of 25-19, 25-14 and 25-9.

Newland led the Panthers with 15 kills, her second highest total of the season. She finished the match with a .619 hitting percentage. Black had match-highs of nine service aces and 25 assists in the match.

The Panthers finished the day by sweeping Wesleyan (0-17, 0-7 GSAC) 25-8, 25-8 and 25-9. Newland led the Panthers with nine kills, while Russell had seven and Black six. Cunningham recorded a match-high 10 service aces. The Panthers had 30 service aces in the match.

The Panthers will face third-seeded Huntingdon in the first round of the GSAC Championship Tournament on Friday at Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn.
