Visiting Toccoa Falls got an early second half goal and made it stand up for a 1-0 win over LaGrange on Wednesday night. The game was the 2017 season opener for the Panthers (0-1), while the Eagles (1-3) picked up their first win.
Carri Ballard scored four minutes into the second half for the game's only goal. Freshman goalkeeper Catie Thomas had two saves for the Panthers, as Toccoa Falls had only three shots on the night.
The Panthers had six shots, with three on goal. Eagles' goalkeeper Emily Truelove made two saves in a four-minute span after Ballard's score to preserve the lead. Truelove stopped shots from Angela Kaye and Ashley Jacobson in the 63rd and 67th minutes.
The Panthers play at Johnson & Wales (N.C.) on Sunday.
