Women's Soccer: Richard's second half goal lifts Panthers over visiting Wesleyan 1-0

LaGrange stayed unbeaten and unscored on with a 1-0 win Tuesday night over visiting Wesleyan. The Panthers are now 3-0 after the non-conference victory over the Wolves (0-3).

LaGrange is off to a 3-0 start for the second time in three seasons. The Panthers will put their perfect marks on the line Sunday when they host Birmingham-Southern at 1 p.m.

The Panthers controlled the game throughout. They outshot Wesleyan 16-5, including 8-1 in the first half. The Panthers had a 7-2 shot on goal advantage.

Andrea Richard broke up the scoreless game in the 58th minute. She lofted a high shot from 35 yards out on a free kick off the outstretched hands of keeper Abby Stephens into the net for her team-leading fourth goal of the season. Richard is second in the USA South conference in goals scored.

Courtney Slauson needed to only stop two shots to record her third shutout of the season.
