Women's Soccer: Strong second half sends Panthers past Toccoa Falls 2-0

TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. - LaGrange used a strong second half to down Toccoa Falls 2-0 in a non-conference game Tuesday night.

The Panthers got strong goaltending from Courtney Slauson and second half goals from Andrea Richard and Sydney Aronson to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Slauson had seven saves in goal, including five in the second half. She made a spectacular save in the first half on a breakaway by Olivia Stands to keep the Eagles (1-2) off the scoreboard.

The Panthers broke the scoreless tie seven minutes into the second half. A mistake by the Eagles' goalkeeper set the Panthers up for an indirect kick inside the box.

Sydney Dorsey flicked a short pass to Richard, whose shot cleared a wall of defenders into the back of the net. The goal was Richard's third in two games.

Aronson gave the Panthers an insurance goal in the 86th minute with her second goal of the season. She blasted a shot from 30 yards outs over the keeper, hitting the crossbar and landing inside the goal for a 2-0 lead.

The Panthers open their home schedule against Wesleyan (Ga.) on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.
