Women's Soccer: Panthers put away Mary Baldwin 7-2

STAUNTON, Va. - LaGrange rolled past Mary Baldwin 7-2 in a USA South match Saturday. The Panthers improved to 5-2 with their fourth straight win.

The Panthers led 2-0 at halftime on the strength of two goals from junior Elise Hopson. Hopson scored in the 18th minute off an assist from Andrea Richard and again in the 27th minute, beating the defense for an unassisted goal.

The Panthers opened up a 4-0 lead in less than two minutes at the outset of the second half. Sydney Dorsett scored off an assist from Paige Smyth, then got her second goal of the match unassisted.

The Panthers tacked on three more goals in the second half. Richard and Katie Harrison scored unassisted, then freshman Sydney Aronson closed out the scoring with her first collegiate goal with an assist from Heidi Hill for the 7-2 final.

The Panthers play at Meredith in Raleigh, N.C. on Sunday in another USA South match.
