Women's Soccer: Ferrum holds off Panthers' second half rally

Ferrum held off a second-half LaGrange rally for a 2-1 USA South win Saturday at Panther Field. The Panthers slipped to 8-6 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

The visiting Panthers (6-6, 4-2 USA South) got two goals from Morgan Funck in the first half. Funck scored two minutes into the game and again with less than a minute left in the half to make it 2-0.

The Panthers got on the board in the 67th minute. Elise Hopson sent a shot in from the right side that caromed off the post into the back of the net to make it 2-1. Hopson had taken a pass from Jessie Edwards to set up the shot.

The Panthers were outshot 13-7 in the game. Ferrum had a 6-3 shot on goal advantage.

The Panthers play at Birmingham-Southern in a non-conference game Wednesday.
