Women's Soccer: Maryville blanks Panthers in USA South opener

MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Maryville blanked LaGrange 2-0 on Saturday in the USA South opener for both teams. The Scots upped their record to 2-1 overall, while the Panthers slipped to 5-2.

Maryville got a first half goal from Samantha Turner off a free kick and a second half goal from Phoebe Leo. Taylor Emerson had an assist on Leo's goal.

After not getting a shot on goal in the first half, the Panthers put pressure on the Scots in the second half. Scots' goalkeeper Michelle Foulke made all five of her saves in the second half. Mendi Kallam had two of the Panthers' five shots on goal.

Chelsea Totaro had six saves in goal for the Panthers. Maryville had a 17-9 shot advantage in the game, including 8-5 shots on goal.

The Panthers host Judson on Tuesday in a non-conference game.
