Women's Soccer: Panthers pick up key GSAC win over Spelman

DECATUR, Ga. - LaGrange took a major step toward securing a spot in the upcoming GSAC tournament with a 3-0 win over Spelman on Sunday on the campus of Agnes Scott College.

The Panthers (5-10-1, 2-3-1 GSAC) got goals from Brittany Gray, Elise Hopson and Melanie Sommers. They allowed the Jaguars (6-8-1) only one shot in the match as goalkeeper Chelsea Totaro recorded her fourth shutout.

Sommers opened the scoring for the Panthers in the 19th minute with an assist from Trayton Carson-Tanner. The Panthers padded their lead to 2-0 before halftime as Hopson scored in the 42nd minute on an assist from Sydney Dorsey.

The Panthers closed out the scoring late in the second half. Caitlin Doerr assisted on Gray's goal in the 87th minute for the 3-0 final score.

The Panthers host Berry on Wednesday in a non-conference match at 7 p.m.
