Women's Soccer: Salem downs Panthers 3-0 in GSAC match

Salem did all of its scoring in the first half and went on to a 3-0 win over LaGrange on Friday in a GSAC match at Panther Field. The Panthers dipped to 4-10-1 overall and 1-4-1 in GSAC play. Salem improved to 8-4-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the conference.

The Panthers were out shot 15-7 in the match. The Spirits had a 7-2 shots on goal advantage. Panther goalkeeper Chelsea Totaro had four saves. Taylor Barcom and Jessi Carter combined to get the shutout for the Spirits.

Salem scored its first two goals in a three minute span in the first half. Mackenzie Schmidt scored both of the goals for the Spirits with assists from Anna Trakas. The Spirits closed out the scoring with a unassisted goal by Courtney Hedgecock in the 26th minute.

Mendi Kallam had a shot on goal in the first half. Mary Robertson had the other shot on goal in the second half.

The Panthers play Spelman at Agnes Scott College in Decatur on Sunday at 3 p.m.
