Women's Soccer: Panthers down Oglethorpe 4-1
ATLANTA, Ga. - LaGrange College scored two goals in less than a minute in the second half to seal a 4-1 non-conference win over Oglethorpe on Wednesday at the Petrels' Salamone Field. The Panthers improved to 3-8-1, while Oglethorpe fell to 1-6-1.
The Panthers got goals from Trayton Carson-Tanner, Sydney Dorsey, Elise Hopson and Mary Robertson. For Carson-Tanner, Hopson and Robertson the goals were the second of the season for each of them. Dorsey scored her first goal of the season. Brittany Gray had two assists and leads the team with five for the season.
Carson-Tanner and Gray hooked up in the first half for the first goal of the match. Gray sent a through ball into the box and Carson-Tanner finished the play with a shot past goalkeeper Elia Breijo.
The Panthers took the 1-0 lead into halftime despite being outshot 11-5 in the half. Panther goalkeeper Chelsea Totaro had six of her nine saves in the match in the first half.
The Panthers added to their lead in the 76th minute. Dorsey scored off a through ball from Hopson in the box to put the Panthers up 2-0.
The Petrels cut the Panthers' lead in half in the 85th minute. Kristen Koch beat Totaro with a long shot from the right side to make it 2-1.
The Panthers answered the Petrels' goal a minute later with two goals in a 47 second span to seal the match. Gray sent a long through ball to Hopson, who beat Breijo for the goal. Robertson finished the scoring after taking a long cross from Carson-Tanner for the 4-1 final.
The Panthers host Covenant in a GSAC match Saturday at 2 p.m.
