Women's Soccer: Big second half carries West Alabama past Panthers

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama used a big second half to beat LaGrange 4-1 on Sunday. The NCAA Division II Tigers upped their record to 4-6, while the Panthers are now 2-7-1.

West Alabama led 1-0 at halftime on a Natalie Perry goal in the 13th minute. The Tigers opened up a 2-0 lead less than five minutes into the second half on a goal by Jade Newton. They added a goal by Hakima Amerg and a second one from Perry to build a 4-0 lead.

The Panthers got on the board in the 82nd minute. Kaylan Whetstone scored from the top of the box off the right post to make it 4-1. It was Whestone's second goal of the season.

The Tigers had a 12-4 shot advantage and a 7-3 on goal edge. Kristin Bird allowed the first half goal and had a save, while Chelsea Totaro surrendered the three second half goals and had two saves.
