Women's Soccer: Piedmont edges Panthers 1-0 in GSAC match

Unbeaten Piedmont got a second half goal and made it stand for a 1-0 win over LaGrange at Panther Field on Tuesday. The loss dropped the Panthers to 1-6-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the GSAC. Piedmont upped its record to 9-0-1 overall and 1-0 in the GSAC.

Haley Grimes got the match's only score with an unassisted goal in the 71st minute. Both teams had three shots on goal in the match.

Piedmont goalkeeper Marjorie Hammond turned away shots by Shelby Stanfield and Mary Robertson in the second half to preserve the shutout. The Lady Lions have allowed only three goals by opponents this season.

The Panthers host Tennessee Temple on Saturday at 1 p.m.
