Salem tops Panthers 3-1

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Salem College downed LaGrange College 3-1 in a GSAC game Saturday. The loss snapped the Panthers' three-game winning streak and left them 4-11 overall and 2-2 in the GSAC.

Brittany Gray scored the Panthers' only goal of the game. Gray finished a week where she scored all five of the team's goals in three games. She leads the team with seven goals this season.

Gray scored off a penalty kick 14 minutes into the game to put the Panthers up 1-0. Salem (11-2, 4-1 GSAC) took a 2-1 halftime lead on goals by Tia Bringhurst and Alexi Saganich.

Saganich scored her second goal of the game with seven minutes left in the game. She has 12 goals for the season, which is second in the GSAC.

Panther goalkeeper Chelsea Totaro had a season-high 14 saves in the game. Salem outshot the Panthers 24-3 in the game.

The Panthers play at Atlanta Christian on Thursday at 4 p.m.
