Panthers break losing streak with 8-0 win over Wesleyan

MACON, Ga. – LaGrange College broke a 10-game losing streak with a 8-0 win over Wesleyan College on Saturday in a GSAC game. The win evened the Panthers conference record at 1-1 and upped their overall record to 2-10.

Freshman Shelby Stanfield scored four goals for the Panthers. Mary Robertson, Chelsea Totaro, Brittany Gray and Rachael Stevenson each scored a goal. Gray, Melanie Sommers and Shelley Cathcart had assists.

The Panthers defense did not allow the Pioneers (0-8-1) a shot in the game. The Panthers had 39 shots in the game, including 29 on goal. Emily Epperson had 21 saves for the Pioneers in goal.

Stanfield scored the first four goals for the Panthers, who led 2-0 at halftime. Stanfield scored her final two goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half to break the game open.

The Panthers host Huntingdon in a GSAC game Wednesday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
