Judson edges Panthers in OT

LaGrange, Ga. – Judson College handed LaGrange College its first loss of the season, beating the Panthers 2-1 in overtime at Panther Field on Wednesday night.

LaGrange enjoyed a 22-11 shot advantage in the game. Judson goalkeeper Rachel Walker had 13 saves in the game. Freshman Kristin Bird had five saves in her first collegiate start.

Judson scored 11 minutes into the game. Lisa Dundore took a through ball and beat Bird for the first goal of the game. The Eagles held onto to the lead until the closing minutes of regulation.

Brittany Gray sent a pass over to the left side to Melanie Sommers. Sommers chipped the ball over Walker into the net to tie the game with 2:28 remaining. It was the second goal of the season for Sommers.

The Eagles got the game-winner just three minutes into overtime. Caitlin Smith's shot from top of the box caromed off the far post. Christian Carter shot the rebound past Bird to end the game.

The Panthers will face Florida College on Saturday and Georgia Southwestern on Sunday. Both games will be in Americus, Ga.
