Salem downs Panthers 6-1 in GSAC game

The loss dropped LaGrange's record to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in GSAC play. Salem improved to 6-3-1 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

Thiel and Bringhurst opened the scoring in the game for the Spirits. Thiel's first goal came six minutes into the game for a quick 1-0 lead. Bringhurst followed less than 10 minutes later to make it 2-0.

The Panthers' lone goal came in the first half. Kylie Deese sent a crossing pass over to Raukisha Ray. Ray beat goalkeeper Jazmine Bridgeman on the right side to cut the deficit in half, 2-1 with 16 minutes left in the half.

Salem answered the Panthers' goal with one of its own three minutes later. Tara Madden scored off an assist from Thiel to make it 3-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Thiel and Bringhurst scored in the first 11 minutes to make it 5-1. Samantha Hubbard closed out the scoring with less than 10 minutes remaining.

The Panthers host Piedmont in a GSAC game on Tuesday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
