Deese's two goals lead Panthers past Atlanta Christian

LaGrange controlled the game from the outset. The Panthers had 11 corner kick opportunities to just one for Atlanta Christian (1-4). The Panthers had a 19-4 shot advantage in the game.

The Panthers led 1-0 at halftime. Late in the half, Jennifer Eby beat goalkeeper Amber Brenton with a high shot in the corner off a pass from Raukisha Ray.

Deese got her first goal 13 minutes into the second half. She took a cross from Angie Forero and put it in the back of the goal for a 2-0 lead.

Deese and the Panthers closed out their scoring in the 77th minute. Akina Omae sent a ball into the front of the goal. Brenton misplayed the ball and Deese took advantage with a shot into a wide open net to make it 3-0.

The Chargers avoided the shutout with less than seven minutes left in the game. Alex Pennington scored on a penalty kick for the 3-1 final score.

Deese's two goals gave her the team lead with five. Eby's goal was her fourth, tying her with Omae for second on the team.

The Panthers host Salem in a GSAC game Saturday. The game time has been changed from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m.
