Spelman holds on for 2-1 win over Panthers
Spelman had a commanding 28-3 shot advantage over LaGrange.
Goalkeeper Laura Webber recorded 14 saves in the game for the
Panthers.
The Jaguars scored 12 minutes into the game. Finda Fallah beat
Webber with a shot off an assist from Danielle Stallings for a 1-0
lead.
The Panthers tied the game in the waning seconds of the half. The
Panthers got a corner kick with less than 30 seconds left. Ashbi
Alford fed Kylie Deese, who beat goalkeeper Amanda Tyler to the
right side of the net. It was the only shot of the half for the
Panthers.
Spelman got the eventual game-winner eight minutes into the second
half. Webber had Kyra Lewis' shot from the top of the box go
through her hands into the goal, giving the Jaguars a 2-1 lead.
The Panthers had only one shot on goal in the second half. Tyler
stopped Akina Omae's shot from 20 yards out.
The Panthers host Tennessee Temple on Saturday at 2 p.m.
