Stockwell, a Syracuse, N.Y. native, received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Classic Studies from Elmira (N.Y.) College. At Elmira, Stockwell served as lacrosse team captain two years and was the school's Rookie of the Year. She served as the Classics society historian and was the Iris Scholarship winner.

In lacrosse, Stockwell is the all-time record holder in wins per season  (11), saves per season (208), career wins ,career saves (402), goals against average (8.4), save percentage season (58.7), goals against average career  (8.84), save percentage career  (55.4).  She was a All-Empire 8  honorable mention and second team all-conference selection.  Stockwell was selected as the Empire 8 Goalie of the week selection six times. She ranked sixth in Division III for save percentage in 2006.

Stockwell served as Liverpool Middle School lacrosse coach and the Liverpool Varsity goalie coach in 2009. She was the lacrosse instructor at Camp Laurel in Readfield Maine from 2006-2008 and has worked a variety of other camps and clinics through New York.  Stockwell served as a Elmira College student assistant in 2011 working with goalies and defense and also worked with sports information to create the athletics highlights video for the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

Stockwell played lacrosse at Liverpool High School and club with Star Riders. She was a member of the New York State National team in 2003 and 2004.
