Berkland finished her first year coaching the Panthers with a 3-9 record in 2012, including a 2-5 finish in the USA South. The three wins were the most for the third year program. The Panthers had four players selected to the USA South all-conference teams. She served as assistant coach during the 2011 season.

Berkland was the assistant women's lacrosse coach for Lasell College in Newton, Mass. for two years. Her primary responsibility was the team's defense.  During her time at Lasell, the Lasers achieved their most wins per a season and achieved their highest stats in goals, assists, draw controls and caused turnovers.
