Lacrosse: Strong first half sends Berry past Panthers

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry used a strong first and went on to a 17-5 win over LaGrange on Wednesday in a non-conference game.

Sydney Garmany had three goals to lead the Panthers (0-5). Raechel Thomas and Madeline LaCavera each had a goal. LaCavara also had an assist.

Thomas opened the scoring with her goal just 38 seconds into the game. Berry (2-1) answered with four straight goals before Garmany scored her first goal of the game.

The Vikings then reeled off seven straight goals to take a commanding 11-2 lead. Garmany's free position goal closed out the first half scoring for the Panthers as they went to the break trailing 13-3.

In the second half, LaCavera and Garmany scored back-to-back to finish the Panthers' scoring. The Vikings got the final three goals of the game for the 17-5 final.

The Panthers open USA South conference play next Saturday and Sunday against Greensboro and Ferrum.
