Lacrosse: Panthers down Oglethorpe 17-8 for second straight win

LaGrange rolled past Oglethorpe 17-8 in a non-conference game Thursday night at Panther Field. The Panthers' second straight win upped their season record to 3-4.

Alexis Dillard set a career high with six goals. Kelsey Griffin also had six goals, giving her 29 on the season. Dillard also had two assists.

Kallie Brook had an outstanding game in goal for the Panthers. She finished the game with 19 saves.

Oglethorpe (0-7) scored the game's first two goals. The Panthers came back with nine unanswered goals to build a 9-2 lead.

Olivia Monroe and Dillard got the first two goals on free position shots to tie the game. Griffin scored five of the next seven goals for the Panthers.

The Stormy Petrels put together a run of three straight goals to cut the Panthers' lead to 9-5. Ashley Davis' goal gave the Panthers a 10-5 lead at halftime.

Dillard needed only 28 seconds to score in the second half to make it 11-5.

Leading 11-6, the Panthers reeled off six straight goals to take a commanding 17-6 lead. Dillard capped her career night by scoring the final two goals for the Panthers.

The Panthers play at Greensboro on Saturday and at Ferrum on Sunday in USA South games.
