Lacrosse: Panthers unable to fend off Piedmont

Visiting Piedmont College defeated LaGrange 19-4 in a rainy USA South match-up on Wednesdayat Panther Field. The contest was the last conference game of the regular season for the Panthers (6-8, 3-5 USA South).

Leading the way for the Panther attack was freshman Alexis Dillard with two goals, while junior Kelsey Griffin and sophomore Sophia Durand each had one.

Junior Chelsea Totaro once again turned in a solid performance in the goal for the Panthers with 10 saves and four caused turnovers. Senior Paige Castle led the Panther defense with six groundballs and three caused turnovers, while junior Audrey Fortmann recorded four and three, respectively.

The Panthers will be the sixth seed in the upcoming USA South Tournament. The Panthers will play at third-seeded Greensboro in the first round Saturday at 4 p.m. The winner advances to play second-seeded Ferrum in the tournament semifinals next Friday in Rocky Mount, N.C.
