DECATUR, Ga. - LaGrange stunned Agnes Scott with a late rally for a 14-13 USA South win Wednesday. The dramatic victory improved the Panthers' record to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
Kelsey Griffin scored six goals for the Panthers, including the game-winner with four seconds left. She added two assists for a school-record eight points.
Agnes Scott had built a 13-11 lead with three straight goals by Caroline Recio, who also had six goals in the game. Recio's last goal came with 4:55 remaining.
Griffin drew the Panthers within a goal one minute later and Sophia Durand tied the game just 25 seconds later with a free position goal. Durand had four goals in the game.
After being turned away on two straight shots, Griffin got a third chance. The Scotties turned the ball over and Griffin fired in the game-winner to give the Panthers the stunning win.
In the first half, Durand's first goal of the game gave the Panthers an 8-4 lead. The Scotties came back to cut the Panthers' lead to 9-8 at halftime.
The Panthers host Ferrum on Saturday and Greensboro on Sunday in USA South games.
