FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - LaGrange blasted Methodist 20-6 in a USA South game Sunday. The Panthers evened their season record at 4-4 and conference record at 1-1.
The 20 goals by the Panthers set a new team single-game scoring mark. It was the second straight game the Panthers have set a scoring record and third time this season. They have 89 goals this season after scoring 80 for the 2012 season.
The Panthers had eight different players score in the game, led by Sophia Durand's four goals. Alexis Dillard, Tiffany Dillard, Kelsey Griffin and Olivia Monroe had three goals each. Ashley Davis added two goals, while Kristin Bird and Paige Castle had one each.
Griffin set one new individual record and tied another in the game. She had a record four assists in the game and tied the single game points record of seven.
Castle and Durand opened the scoring for the Panthers with goals 25 seconds apart for a 2-0 lead. The Monarchs (0-6, 0-3 USA South) got within a goal six minutes later.
The Panthers ran off seven unanswered goals, with Monroe getting two of them, to go up 9-1. Davis and Alexis Dillard closed out the first half scoring for a 11-3 lead.
The Panthers continued their scoring blitz in the second half. Durand and Tiffany Dillard had five of the Panthers' nine goals in the half. Bird closed out the scoring with her first goal of the season.
The Panthers play at Agnes Scott in a USA South game Wednesday.
