Lacrosse: Panthers upended in wet afternoon match-up
LaGrange fell 15-5 to visiting Transylvania in a rainy afternoon match-up Monday at Panther Field. The loss leaves the Panthers 2-4 overall.
Senior Paige Castle led the Panthers with a career-high five draw controls and tied her season-high mark with seven groundballs.
Five different Panthers scored goals: juniors Kelsey Griffin and Audrey Fortmann, sophomores Olivia Monroe and Sophia Durand and freshman Alexis Dillard. Dillard contributed two assists, while sophomore Ashley Davis recorded one.
On the defensive end, junior goalkeeper Chelsea Totaro recorded a season-high 17 saves and three caused turnovers. Senior Tiffany Dillard recorded three caused turnovers and two groundballs. Durand also was able to force three Transylvania turnovers, while freshman Raquel Manzo, junior Kristen Bird and Davis each recorded two.
LaGrange was trailing 9-1 at the end of the first half and only allowed six Pioneer goals in the second.
The Panthers play at Young Harris on Friday in a non-conference game beginning at 4 p.m.
