Lacrosse: LaGrange fights rainy first half to breeze by visiting Aurora

The LaGrange lacrosse team snapped a two-game losing streak in a wet, but decisive 11-6 win over visiting Aurora on Tuesday at Panther Field. The Panthers evened their season record at 2-2.

Junior goalkeeper Chelsea Totaro recorded a season-high 14 saves as she led her defense in the victory.

Adding to Totaro's defensive effort was senior Tiffany Dillard, recording a game-high of six caused turnovers, as well as five groundballs. Coming off the bench with a stellar defensive showing was senior Paige Castle, who tied for game honors with seven groundballs while adding three caused turnovers of her own.

Offensively, Junior Kelsey Griffin recorded five goals, three coming in the first half. Freshman Alexis Dillard added two goals, while four other Panthers each contributed one.

Despite a very rainy start to the game, the Panthers dominated the first half, leading the Spartans (0-2) 7-1 at halftime. The Spartans battled back with five second half goals, but the Panther defense held the Spartans scoreless over the final six minutes of the game.

The Panthers will host Millsaps at Panther Field on Friday beginning at 6 p.m.
