FERRUM, Va. - Ferrum downed LaGrange 17-2 on Saturday at Penn-Roediger Stadium. The game was the USA South opener for both teams.
The Panthers fell to 0-3 overall on the season. Ferrum evened its record at 2-2.
The trio of Caila Cummings, Courtney Hamm and Brooke Hewartson accounted for 14 of Ferrum's 17 goals. Cummings led the way with six goals, while Hamm and Hewartson had four each.
The host Panthers scored the game's first six goals to take control. Ashley Davis and Kelsey Griffin scored LaGrange's goals back-to-back to make it 6-2. Ferrum scored the last three goals of the half and outscored the Panthers 8-0 in the second half.
Ferrum had a 35-10 shot advantage in the game. Panther goalkeeper Chelsea Totaro had 13 saves in the game.
The Panthers play at Greensboro on Sunday in a USA South game.
