Panther lacrosse started out strong on Friday at home against visiting Alma College, leading 7-6 at the end of the first half, but was unable to hang on as the Scots slipped by for a 14-9 victory.
Sophomore standout Kelsey Griffin recorded a career high of six goals in the effort for LaGrange. Freshman Sophia Durand recorded two goals, while classmate Olivia Monroe netted one. Griffin recorded the team's only assist.
Leading the Panther defense was freshman Ashley Davis with five ground balls collected and two caused turnovers, while rookie Shelby Standfield recorded four and three, respectively.
Sophomore Chelsea Totaro recorded 12 saves in the goal for LaGrange.
Christie Havrella lead the way for Alma's offense, matching Griffin's six goals scored. Defensively for the Scots, goalkeeper Stephanie Herman equaled Totaro's save total.
The Panthers will return to action on March 3, as they travel to play USA South foe Ferrum College.
