Lacrosse: Panther Charge Falls Short Against Dallas in Season Opener

LaGrange College women's lacrosse opened its 2012 season at home on Saturday afternoon with a 14-10 loss against visiting University of Dallas. Leading the way for the Panthers offensively with four goals scored was sophomore Kelsey Griffin, while classmate Chelsea Totaro recorded 18 saves between the goal posts. 

The Panthers trailed 7-3 at the end of the first half, but were able to match Dallas' second-half goal total with seven.

Griffin scored three of her four goals in the second half, while Sophia Durand, Tiffany Dillard and Ashley Davis combined for the remaining four goals during the late rally.

Freshman Olivia Monroe recorded the Panthers' first goal of the 2012 season less than five minutes into the first half. Sophomore Robin Dillon netted the first goal of her career at the 12 minute-mark.

The Dallas goalkeeper, Samantha Mason, recorded 10 saves on 20 Panther shots.

LaGrange will return to action on Friday, March 2, at home at Panther Field against Alma (Mich.). Game time is set for noon.
