GAINESVILLE, Ga. - LaGrange's fourth quarter rally came up short in a 59-56 loss at Brenau on Tuesday. The Panthers slipped to 3-4 on the season, while the host Tigers upped their record to 7-1.
"We had a tough start and really never got going in the first half. We dug ourselves a huge hole by halftime, so we played catch up in the second half," said Coach Lee Buchanan. "In the second half we finally played the way we are capable.
"Kim Payno raised her game to another level tonight. I was very pleased with her effort on both ends of the court. Lauren had a solid game as well. As a team we have to learn how to play hard for 40 minutes."
LaGrange fell behind 36-15 by halftime. They still trailed by 21 heading into the final stanza. The Panthers scored 29 points in the period, two more than in the first three quarters combined. Johnson's 3-point attempt to tie the game at the buzzer was off the mark.
