Women's Basketball: Panthers cruise past Covenant 72-45

LaGrange College cruised past Covenant College 72-45 on Saturday at Mariotti Gym. The Panthers improved to 10-2 in the GSAC and 14-6 overall.

The Panthers controlled the boards and forced 25 turnovers in beating Covenant (6-14, 5-7 GSAC) for the second time this season. Anjelica Wilcox (Roswell, Ga./Norcross) had a game-high 11 rebounds for the Panthers, who had a 50-31 advantage in rebounding.

Stefanie Schuck (Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett) had a season-high 18 points to tie the Lady Scots' Jessie Blankenship for game honors. Katie Covington (Savannah, Ga./Calvary Day School) added 13 points.

The Panthers never trailed in the game. Leading 14-8, Schuck's 3-pointer started a 12-3 run for the Panthers to build a 15-point lead. The Panthers scored the final seven points of the half to open up a 39-20 lead at the break.

Covenant never got closer than 13 in the second half. The Panthers broke the game open with a 13-0 run to go up 57-31 with 9:33 left. Six different Panthers scored in the four-minute span. The 72-45 final score matched the Panthers' largest lead of the game.

The Panthers host Salem on Sunday before playing at Piedmont on Wednesday. Both game are GSAC contests.
