Panthers roll past Huntingdon 109-57

LaGrange rolled past Huntingdon 109-57 in a GSAC game Saturday at Mariotti Gymnasium. The Panthers with their third straight win, improved to 13-1 overall and 6-1 in the GSAC. The Lady Hawks fell to 6-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play.

Sophomore Katie Covington set a school record in the win. Covington was a perfect 17-for-17 at the free throw line. She finished with 23 points and a career-high 15 rebounds for her third straight double-double and seventh of the season.

Heather Miller tied Covington for game honors with 23 points, 14 coming in the second half. Freshman Alex Wilson scored a season-high 22 points to follow Covington and Miller. She was 5-for-10 from 3-point range.

The Panthers were 33-of-40 at the free throw line in the game. The Panthers shot 60 percent from the floor in the second half, finishing the game at an even 50 percent. The Panthers enjoyed a 63-38 rebounding advantage.

The Panthers never trailed in the game. They scored the first 10 points of the game. Covington had 16 points in the first half, 14 coming at the free throw line. The Panthers led 54-32 at halftime.

The 109 points was a season-high for the Panthers. The Panthers have reached the century mark a school-record four times this season. The Panthers are averaging 86.1 points per game.

The Panthers go on the road to face Agnes Scott on Wednesday in a GSAC game. Tip-off is 6 p.m.
