Swimming: Devin James named new head coach and Aquatics Director

LaGrange College athletics director Jennifer Claybrook announces the hiring of Devin James as Head Swimming Coach and Aquatics Director. James is an LaGrange alumni and former member of the swim team.

"Devin James is a high-energy coach with the expertise and passion needed to lead the swim program," Claybrook said. "Devin's commitment to our mission made him the clear choice.  As a graduate of LaGrange College, he has built positive relationships with a number of faculty, staff and LaGrange community members.  We look forward to seeing him build strong men's and women's swim teams while enhancing the aquatics programs."

James graduated magna cumlada from LaGrange in 2013 with a degree in biology. He was a four-year letterman in swimming for the Panthers and received the school's Eagle Award as a senior. James was involved in a number of campus activities as a student. He was a Presidential Ambassador, member of the Honor Council, and served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as vice-president.

James comes to LaGrange from Community Christian School in Stockbridge, Georgia where he was the head swim coach for the varsity and junior varsity teams. He was the head girls cross country coach and head boy soccer coach at Jackson (Ga.) High School prior to going to Community Christian School.

"I am so excited to return to LaGrange College and have this amazing opportunity to be a part of the aquatics program that gave so much to me," said James. "If I am able to give a fraction of what was given to me then I know with the support of this community we can bring the Lagrange College swim program to new heights."
