Swimming: Hiram Haro Oropeza, Elissa Fuller pace Panthers at South Georgia College meet

DOUGLAS, Ga. - The LaGrange swim teams returned from their holiday break at the South Georgia College Sprint Meet on Saturday.

"The meet was a good bounce back meet coming off the long Christmas break," said Coach Chip Aplin. "Although the times may not show it, this was a really good meet for the team to truly focus on technique swimming."

Freshman Tim Garnett won the 100-yard breaststroke for the men with a time of 1:15.26. Hiram Haro-Oropeza was the only Panther to go a season best time in the meet, swimming a 2:44.72 in the 200 individual medley.

The women had a strong showing as well. Elissa Fuller had two top five places in the 100 backstroke and as part of the 200 freestyle releay team. Anna Kane, Jessica Morton, and Alex Bromby each had a top 10 finish.

The Panther teams will swim at the Berry Invitational hosted by Berry College on Jan. 16. After the Berry meet, the teams will prepare for the Appalachian Swimming Conference Championships on Feb. 11-13 Christiansburg, Va.
