Swimming: Panther men set three team records at Brenau Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Ga. - The LaGrange swim teams competed in the Brenau Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

"The team dropped a staggering one minute and 56.61 seconds off of their seeded times for the meet," said Coach Chip Aplin. "In 46 of the 57 events swam, we had season best times.

"This meet put us exactly where we want to be for conference. A few of the kids swam faster than their projected end of season goal times."

The men set three team records in the meet. In the 200-yard freestyle relay Ben Ashby, Mitchell Cross, Tim Garnett, and Brennen Wilkes set a new mark with a time of 1:33.99. Ashby, Cross, Garnett, and Ben Fuller shattered the 800 freestyle record by 46 seconds with a time of 7:58.34.
Garnett broke Fuller's 200 butterfly record by .11 second with a time of 2:03.48. The men finished 10th overall in the field of 15 teams.
