Swimming: Panther teams open season at Sewanee Invitational

The LaGrange swim teams opened their 2015-16 season at the Sewanee Invitational hosted by the University of the South on Friday and Saturday.

The Panther men finished fourth in the meet. Tim Garnett was third in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:08.93 and fifth in the 100 butterfly in a time of 57.04.

Mitchell Cross came in fourth in the 50-yd breaststroke with a time of 28.91 and had sixth place finishes in the 50 freestyle (23.14) and 200 breaststroke (2:26.33). Ben Fuller came in fifth in the 500 freestyle  in a time of 5:32.15.

The relay team of Garnett, Cross, Ben Ashby, and Brennen Wilkes had fourth place finishes in the 100 and 200 medley events. The relay team of Ashby, Cross, Garnett and Wilkes was fourth in both the 100 and 200 freestyle events.

Alex Bromby led the women with an eighth place finish in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:26.23. Elissa Fuller, Anna Kane, and Lyllie Menjivar-Couch all competed for the Panthers.

The teams will compete in the South Georgia Invitational in Douglas, Ga. on Saturday, Nov. 7.
