LaGrange College swept the Appalachian Swimming Conference awards for the week ending Dec. 16. Freshman Mitchell Cross (Kingsland, Ga./Camden County) was the men's Swimmer of the Week, while senior Haley Dent (Newnan, Ga./Northgate) took the women's award.
In the team's meet with Greensboro, Cross took first place in three events, setting a new school record in one. He set the new record in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:03.57. Cross was also first in the 50 freestyle (23.58) and the 100 butterfly (54.13). He had a split of 1:03.63 in the breaststroke leg of the 400 medley relay and 51.86 in the 400 freestyle relay.
Dent set a school record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.65. She had a time of 2:59.45 to finish third in the 200 breaststroke. Dent had a split of 1:06.53 on the second place 400 freestyle relay team and 1:14.52 breaststroke leg in the 400 medley relay.
