Swimming: Cross, Dent set school records in meet against Greensboro

The LaGrange swim teams faced Greensboro in a meet Friday at the Hudson Natatorium. Freshman Mitchell Cross and senior Haley Dent set team records.

Cross and fellow freshman Ben Fuller were the Panthers' Swimmers of the Meet. The pair took first place in all three of their individual events. Cross set a new team record in the 100-yard breaststroke. Cross and Fuller tied with Greensboro's Justin Smitz for the men's meet high point leaders.

Dent set a team record in finishing second in the 100-yard breaststroke. She was third in the 200 breaststroke.

Fellow senior Becky Robertson was the women's high point award winner. Robertson was first in the 100-yard freestyle and had second place finishes in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events.

Freshman Chandler Norris was second in the 200-yard backstroke, 200 individual medley and the 1,000 freestyle. Junior Leslie Rhoades and senior Blake Shuler had two third place finishes. Rhoades in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly, while Shuler had his in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle. Joe Strickland was third in the 200 breaststroke and Krysta Tatara had a third place finish in the 100 backstroke.

The women's 400-yard individual medley and 400 freestyle relay team of Dent, Norris, Rhoades and Robertson had second place finishes. Tatara, Evan Brasselle, Angie Forero and Mary Robertson was third in the 400 individual medley relay and fourth in the freestyle relay.

The 400-yard individual relay team of Cross, Fuller, Devin James and Blake Shuler was second. Cross, Fuller, Shuler and Joe Strickland were second in the 400 freestyle relay.
