Swimming: Panthers have strong showing at Sewanee Winter Invitational

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The LaGrange swim teams had a strong showing at the Sewanee Winter Invitational. Freshman Mitchell Cross and senior Haley Dent were the team's Swimmers of the Meet and also high point scorers.

Cross set a season-best time of 53.59 seconds in winning the 100-yard butterfly event. He was third in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.55. Cross had third place finishes as a member of the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay events.

Dent had two top 10 finishes. She was sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke and 10th in the 50 freestyle events.

Freshman Ben Fuller had a third place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 58.20 seconds. He was sixth in the 200 freestyle and swam in both the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay events.

David Teske was sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke. Will Scruggs had personal bests in the 50 and 200 freestyle events. He took two seconds off his best time in the 200 finals.

Leslie Rhoades was 10th in the 100-yard butterfly and set a personal-best with an 11th place finish in the 50 freestyle. Hannah Sharp set a personal-best in the 50 freestyle and was ninth in the 1,650 freestyle. Blake Shuler swam in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke events. He also was on the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams.

The Panther teams host Greensboro on Saturday, Dec. 15.
