Swimming: Panthers have many swimmers set personal bests at Panther Invitational

The LaGrange College swim teams hosted the Panther Invitational on Saturday at the Hudson Natatorium.

The women's 200 yard medley relay team of Madison Brasselle, Haley Dent, Leslie Rhoades and Becky Robertson started the meet by swimming for a best time in the event.

Brasselle and Devin James swam the distance events in the meet. Brasselle dropped 13.9 seconds in the 100 freestyle and 6.6 seconds in the 500 freestyle.  James has continued to drop time in both events at every meet this season.

James and Christina Sabol were named the team's Swimmers of the Meet for most points earned. Sabol earned 13 points in five events.

The Panthers had a number of swimmers drop times and swim personal bests. Sara Morton swam a personal best time in the 500 freestyle dropping 2.3 seconds. Josh Ledbetter swam a personal best in the 50 freestyle. Haley Dent dropped time in the 100 breaststroke and 100 freestyle events.

Leslie Rhoades finished fourth in the 200 butterfly. Rhoades, Brasselle, Dent and Becky Robertson swam in both the medley relay and freestyle relay, finishing fifth in both events.

Paige Castle continued her improvement in the 50 freestyle, getting closer to breaking the 30 second mark. She swam her first 200 freestyle, finishing with a time of 2:26.17.

Mary Robertson swam in her first meet since completing the soccer season. She swam in a total of four events.

Blake Shuler swam well in all of his events and is developing into a sprint butterflier for the men's relay team of James, Ledbetter and Joe Strickland.
